Burn
down Christmas
tear
down the trees
the
glitter, the focus
on
the stuff we don’t need
Rip
up the tax code
the
whole thing broken
none
of this can be fixed
in
bits and pieces
A
wholesale redraft
a
looking within
none
of this worthy
for
this people, our nation
All
we settle for
a
thin version of our joy
the
babe in the manger
cast
to the curb
Exalting
the fat-man
by
the name of Santa
the
same letters spelling
the
devil, Satan
Burn
down Christmas
because
it is nothing holy
like
the golden calf
made,
worshiped,
by
men in the desert
