a loving tribute

he lovingly bent to the task
a prayer over his Father,
the one who came before him,
the one who he would surpass…
 
a loving tribute, an elegy,
sacred words of homage,
cleaving to his fidelity,
his guide star, their Ukraine…
 
an after poem of celebration,
tapping the well of his words
an homage for his forebearer,
the one who paved the way…
 
he called the spirit, to accept
his loving tribute,
as an orphan to his country,
to sing the songs of his dear Ukraine…
