peace in his spirit

though struggling in his body,
a peace in his spirit,
knowing another would
take up his banner, his cause…
 
a mild and tender prophet,
an answer to his prayer,
that the one truth would not perish,
would not vanish from the earth…
 
another heart was ready,
to carry forth the promise
to keep alive the memory, the hope,
for his dear Ukraine…
 
a holy star he wished for,
his prayer he poured out on her,
a blessing in the mighty call,
continuing his life’s work…
 
opening his heart up,
peace at his ending,
knowing another will support the cause,
of his blessed Ukraine…
