Plumb his words

plumb his words,
the depths of emotion,
the well of his pain, his torment,
separated from his home, his people,
his anger at injustice,
his love for his people,
the serfs, the downtrodden…
 
plumb his words,
his kinship, his fidelity,
cleaving forever, always,
to the land of his birth,
even when set apart, in prison,
he knew where he came from,
his heart was Ukraine…
