taking away Christmas
the trappings of the season
the crèches, the greens
the babe in the manger
packed away for another year
not de-frocking the church,
truly,
the language they suggested
de-greening the sanctuary
for another year, this
season;
but feeling like Maundy
Thursday
when we remove the holy
the final judgment upon us
when Christ went to the
cross
