The hawks in the deeper woods,
somewhere else after the storm
the snow new-fallen, heavy
snow on their branch
high up in the tree, set apart
their perch high up by the highway
not available this day
covered in new-fallen snow
We were left wondering, pondering
as we came off the clover-leaf,
Where do they go,
what is their purchase
where do they find food
when snow is on their branch?
