A Rainbow of Hope - v3

I heard an urgent call, a shout,
I raced down the darkened stairs
I saw a flicker of color as I ran outside
and then I saw it, a gift,
an arc, God’s bow, His promise
shining down on us.
Standing in awe and wonder
the rich color muted over the city.
It curves over the alley
above the tenements, the wires
the clutter, the stresses of life.
It was a timely reminder
in good times and bad
of Your faithfulness,
Your covenant with Your people;
a beautiful arc, a shimmering bow
hovering above us.
A pleasure to behold
a piece of hope placed
for a moment, a few seconds
there in the sky above us.
The rainbow was unnoticed by so many,
lost in the push and pull
of daily living, their own struggles.
It was truly shared with those lucky few
who stopped for a moment or two
and looked up, at your handiwork,
at Your rainbow of hope.
