Not on Temporal Things

Our lives should be centered
not on temporal things
not on things of this world
on Christ, our savior, alone

Focused on heaven above
not on the things here below
though we are made of clay
through his death and resurrection
or baptism and our rising
we are made for heaven above

The things of this earth will pass away
our bodies will return to the dust
yet we will rise with Christ
to our eternal home
We must remember this faith
this belief in our risen Lord
with this to guide us
our possessions don’t mean a thing

Do not store up things that will rust
that will like us return to the dust
store up our treasures in heaven
in this we will find life
Share that which we have been given
to any who are in need
believe in God’s provisions
for all our daily needs

“This is a very powerful message and one that needs repeating. We as Christian deny Christ when we do not live out the Great Commission by creating barriers, stumbling blocks to Christ. We must be sowing joy, not judgment, love not division, hope not condemnation, agape love not the values of the world. Only in this are we fulfilling our call, using our gifts for God's glory.”
