share what you have

The young fool
with the newly built barns
staring at the pit, at Sheol
nothing to show for his wealth
grain that would rot
that which would be taken away
owned by someone else
when death came his way

share what you have
don’t store it up
so much good you can do
offering love to others in need
heeding the message from God
sharing out of our bounty
of the gifts from above
that all would not know want
that the whole world would be
brought back to God
humbly, at the foot of the cross

giving away that which will rust
and that which will lead to eternal life
sharing all of the gifts we have received
especially the gift of the Christ
