A Piece of Bread

Even me Lord?, yes that question
lingers, kneeling at the altar rail,
a piece of bread, torn from the one loaf
nestled in my cupped hands,
listening to the words of the pastor
thinking about her words
sharing the joy, the open table
staring at the piece of bread
the enormity of what we remember
his agape love, poured out for me
a price I can never repay
a prayer within the one he spoke
asking him to guide me
all the days of my life
