we hear in these words
of the leader, the pastor
of those ancient believers
the people before us
the echoes of their steps
their faithful journey
all who have gone before
as a people, in this nation
we hear in the words
the convergence, our purpose
what God would have us do
how we can answer Christ’s
call
our minds opening
to these words of power
the echoes of their steps
beating in our hearts
