the vision, the dream
the hope the yet calls us
the light of America
the hope that binds us
the same star guides us
as it led the women to
Seneca,
the blacks and the others to
Selma,
and the gays in Stonewall
all of us joined
the several together
able and disabled,
red, yellow, brown, black,
and white
men and women,
the young and the old
all of us bound together
the same star guides us
the hope that is America
bound within us
