The calendar marks the beginning
the start of a new season of life
a warming of the world, my part anyway,
melting of the endless winter snows
the coming of the robin, the crocuses,
greening of the morning, brightening skies
rebirth in its season, filling the air
with fragrance of the flowers
not the cold of winter
Oh how I smiled, when I saw the notation
spring is here, let us rejoice, throw off the covers
and dance for the morning
the long winter is ending
and the color scheme is shifting
coats can be set aside soon
and yards will need to be mowed
spring is here!
