Dried palms of Sunday
in the streets of Jerusalem
how soon we forget
the joy that we felt
when Jesus came triumphant
entering the city in victory
hosannas on our lips
Dried palms of Sunday
blowing to the shoulder
the heat of Friday
darkness falling at noon
after a different procession
Christ upon the cross
dying upon Calvary
