Into the Night

The blind disciples
scattering into the night
the shepherd captured
all the sheep lost
not knowing where to go

Deserting the master
running away
some denying they knew him
one yet who betrayed him

None stepping forward
hanging back, at a distance
afraid to speak to power
to save the Messiah
from his fate
