Stripped of his clothing
soldiers drawing lots
while he was yet dying
the signs of his scourging
his blood in rivulets falling
all over his body
wearing a crown of thorns
The king of the people dying
having chosen to climb the cross
faithful to the master
becoming a slave to his purpose
paying the ultimate cost
dying on the altar
an offering of love
to set us free from our sin
