These
words of the Savior, from God
words
on the mountain side,
given
to the people, commandments
Words
changing, love, the Spirit,
transforming
words, the rules,
the
Law, the meaning, the balance
of
how we are to live
Seeing
the world with different eyes
our
enemies as our neighbors,
loving
our enemies, as Christ loves,
those
who would do us harm
treating
them as we would wish
they
would treat us, with love,
as
Christ loved us first
All
equal are equal, worthy,
in
the sight of God, our Father,
all
must be treated fairly, justly,
These
words lofty, hard to live out;
but
for the help of God
we
too can live out these words
to
be His disciples, His children
We
too can live out these words,
the
words that guided our Savior
even
to the cross, to Golgotha,
to
submit, to give, to sacrifice,
even
while hanging there;
Offering
forgiveness, reconciliation,
in
living as He lived, humbly
in
these words of love.
