Two companion poems, a no-state solution – v2

A self-fulfilling prophesy, decades of war, unrest,
harkening back to scripture, obedient believers,
ancient land, disputed, defiled, holy to each one,
all in the same, one breath, held, equilibrium,
two companion poems, standing at equipoise,
statis, in this moment, a pendulum swinging…
 
The pendulum swinging, Occam's razor,
or maybe a mortal Sword of Damocles, …
“Their enemies have become martyrs”, and
“Martyrs have become their enemies”,
the story of these times, ancient conflicts,
in the Holy Land they both claim…
