Trapped in the flames, the cage of Rafah – v2

A nation driven from their homes, this people,
forced into a corner, to an alleged place of refuge,
the refugee population swelling, growing,
to a place overflowing, overwhelming…
 
Trapped in the fire, in the flames, of Rafah,
the slaughter of displaced innocents, children,
their enemies buried, hidden, dispersed, within
their neighbors, the corner, the civilian population…
 
Innocent children, lambs prepared for slaughter,
gathered into this pen, a living prison, hell,
a nation forced into a corner, boxed in,
their Shepherd now their terror…
 
Nowhere to run, to flee, to hide, they are stuck,
caged, corralled, forced into a corner,
all others turning away, hiding, too busy,
averting their gaze, covering their eyes…
 
Their Shepherd now their terror,
sheep prepared for slaughter,
lost in the world’s indifference,
a nation caged, forced into a corner…
