Too close to the border

Too close to the border, to terror,
for warning, defensive actions,
missiles, drones coming,
shattering the stillness,
trapped in safe places,
while the bombs fall…
 
Too close to the border,
a great city, a vulnerable population,
their continuing fight, their struggle,
forgotten in the fleeting news cycle,
we say we stand with them,
but the bombs continue to fall…
