The power of our words

Our ideas, our words have power,
to move mountains, to change history,
growing within our spirits, seeking voice,
to change the direction of the wind,
to speak, to rise to a crescendo…
 
Like pebbles gently tossed,
thrown by little hands into a rain puddle,
like larger hands, growing, rising,
finding their agency, their voice….
 
Casting rocks into a lake, a pond,
a pool, casting widening ripples,
stronger voices, words of power, truth,
boulders hurled into an immense Sea…
 
Yes, each of us holds power,
within our words, our spirits,
words to harm or to raise up, to love,
to carry another’s burden, to advocate,
to right a great injustice…
