we are strangled by anxiety
sapped by our worries
seeing only the mountain
our challenges, our
struggles
we think we have to conquer
that we must succeed
that the task is ours to
accomplish
we forget our risen Lord
we are immobilized by fear
we listen to the sirens
the voices of the enemy
the whispers of the flesh
we forget our risen Savior
we cannot hear the Spirit
calling us to rest, to peace
we ignore the words of the
Psalms
we think we are all that
that each challenge, each
struggle
is ours alone to carry
we do not bring them to God
we do not trust in God’s
mercy
