The metaphor profound
yet there before us
the ice giving way
to the salt of the earth
Spreading salt
on the path to your temple
the sand mixed in
to make the path clear
Melting ice
the darkness receding
our witness revealing
the love of the Christ
All of us worthy
salt of the earth
worthy of the message
to share our new birth
We are to go
to be a light to the nations
sharing God’s love
to the ends of the earth
The salt of the earth
not some prestigious group
each of us able
to be light to the world
