rancid grace

like the manna in the desert
just enough to be gathered
nothing extra held
the gift to be a blessing
like manna, the food God provided,
grace is not to be stored up
grace is given for a purpose
grace is to be given away
not held to become rancid
the sin of pride, of privilege
as if we are the Creator
as if what we have
was made by our hands
grace held becomes pride
rancid grace useless
