When Judas left the upper room
and ran to the Temple
Evil stalked the night;
a sinister presence building
blotting out the Light
Gathered up in the darkness
Christ, the Messiah,
arrested in the night;
a kangaroo court, judgment
now on God’s chosen people
Bound, condemned
by His own people,
given over to Caesar, to Pilate;
Light of the world, the Messiah
to die a violent death
