A rain of color, the leaves
of the maples,
different kinds, red, sugar,
swamp,
all torquing, canting,
twisting,
inexorably, falling
to the warming, the change
the frost and the sun,
conspiring
to create a dance of leaves
meandering, lingering in the
still air
not so much a fall as a
dance to earth
each a balsa glider,
caught on thermals, on
breezes
wet leaves, clear crisp
morning
a bright sky, polarized
light
a rain of red, yellow,
orange,
a remnant of green,
showering down from heaven
