After the waiting
centuries of waiting
the prophesies being fulfilled
John jumping in her womb
The angels singing
in a dream coming
to Mary, to Joseph
to tell the good news
Waiting for the Messiah
the King of heaven
to save us from ourselves
the price of the law
Coming humbly
the babe in the manger
God pouring out himself
walking as a man
On that First Christmas
that baby’s first Christmas
the star shining brightly
atop the tree of the sky
The lowly stable
the animals, the shepherds
wise men coming
to bring us worthy gifts
Waiting for Advent
like the people
the prophesy waiting
to be fulfilled
God in His heavens
Christ at the right hand
waiting to come
to bring His people to Him
