Though He is Eternal
the first-born son
born before the world
before His work had begun
His life beginning
in the stable bare
laid in the manger bed
for there was nowhere else for them
So humble a beginning
for eternal God
coming to the earth to save us
in the form of a man
Somehow this is what we needed
the law not nearly enough
needing the face of our brother
to begin to understand God
Only in his witness
his submission to God’s plan
only in his obedience
can we know God’s ways
We are to continue
to serve our neighbors, humbly
offering them the hope, the love we know
until our Savior comes
Waiting in this season
in these days of Advent
waiting for our Savior
to return in victory
