“You are the Man”

Nothing sugar-coated,
Speaking a righteous truth
The enormity of his sin,
“You are the man!”
 
A curse, a judgment,
On his king, his master,
Speaking the sentence of God,
“You are the man!”
 
Anger that had been kindled
In David’s heart
Directed at himself,
“You are the man!”
 
His secret exposed,
His rebellion against God,
In Nathan’s rebuke,
“You are the man!”
