We have turned our backs on Jesus
we have cursed God’s holy name
we have wallowed in the filth with the Prodigal
we have questioned why Christ came
We have worshipped gods of this earth
mere mortal, men of clay
we have exalted things of dust, of the earth
we have cursed the light of day
Forgive us Lord in your mercy
may we be made whole once more
walking with us loving Savior
for you alone are the Way
Lead me loving God
walk with me within the yoke
let me take up my cross each day
may I seek to live with you
Guard me from the world
from the sirens, this shiny objects
all the false gods calling to me
including the illusion of my own power
For we fail to recognize
to admit that we are dust
making gods of false idols
all that is clay, that returns to the earth
to the ground from which we came
