God’s first language is mercy

God may be the creator
but His is the lover of our souls
wanting us to be with him
forgiving all our sin

God’s first language is mercy
the design of creator
placing us with the garden
to walk with us in love

When we failed, sin
our disobedience to him
God was hurt, communion lost
yet he did not destroy us

Seeking ever, wooing
God’s first language mercy
wanting us to come to him
to walk again in the garden

Laws he gave us
to conform our lives to him
to walk again in the garden
in the coolness of the night

Yet we continue to rebel
down to the present again
only through the blood of our Savior
the sacrifice of the lamb

We are given a new chance
a new hope in Christ
God’s first language mercy
a way to walk with him
