Tearing at our hearts
with trembling fingers
ripping ourselves open
in the journey to the cross
if we are truly faithful
if we put ourselves there
in truth, in fact, if we are honest
it is good we begin in ashes
because of our sin
what we have done
why he had to die
why Christ came
down to the earth
lifting us from the dust
giving us life
