Their enemy their brother

Do they recognize their brothers
those whom they are fighting
for the land that they share
these thousands of years

since their father Abraham
Ishmael and Isaac
fighting the same battle
year after year

the legacy, the inheritance
the land that they share
claiming God’s favor
hope becoming despair

A prayer in their night
after the start of the cease fire
that they would mend the fences
the division of their blood
