Thankful for Easter
Thinking about what I am thankful for
and to whom I raise my thanks
for the Creator, for life
for the morning of Easter
for the Savior who died
and rose to new life
Thankful for Friday
for that fateful day
the Thursday before it
for the cup that he drank of
for the choice that he made
Thankful for his choice
for coming to earth
giving up his will
submitting to God
to fulfill his plan
Thankful for Easter
and the empty tomb
for the rising sun
and the promise of new life;
conforming my path
through the gate of the cross
