Thankful for Friday

Thinking about for what I am thankful
and to whom I raise my thanks
for the Creator, for certain
for especially the Son

Thankful for Friday
for that fateful day
the Thursday before it
ensuring his dying way

Thankful for Friday
for the choices that he made
choosing to drink the cup
giving up his will

Knowing only in part
what the bile must have been like
the sins of the whole world
poured into Christ’s unblemished heart
