Our heads covered with oil
in the favor of the Lord
each of us commissioned to his service
his ministry of love
each given gifts to share
the build the body up
Anointed for a purpose
as was the lamb who came to earth
descended from heaven
given human birth
going as he was sent
to do the master’s will
dying that we may live
taking away our sin
Our lives on this mortal coil
for good or for ill
following the way of the world
of the will of our shepherd
the path of the cross
following his calling
from deep within our soul
Anointed for a purpose
to share the love of God
revealed in Christ Jesus
the one who born our stain
who drank of the cup of bitterness
who died and rose again
Going to tell the whole world
he came for you and me
