How briefly the candle burned
only a whisper
time fleetingly
revealed, praised
jeered, tortured
our savior
going, though willingly
at the master’s call
to the altar of the cross
with us only
for a whisper of time

Not really a season
a brief moment
a whisper of time only
Long enough for memory
but the taste still lingers
sweet upon our lips
