To His Servanthood

In our words, in our deeds
each of us called
by the wooing of the Spirit
God calling to us
Christ, our brother,
to his servanthood
the way of sacrifice,
the way of the cross

Out of our comfort
turning from our past
joining the chorus
the saints who came before
all of creation
in service, in praise
to our God and king

Starting on our journey
up onto the waters
on the dusty byways
bringing Christ with us
His Spirit indwelling
spreading his message,
God’s love everlasting,
for the whole world
