In bondage

Seeking earthly approval,
Human judgement, praise,
Enslaved, a prisoner, trapped,
In bondage within our spirit,
Destroyed our own lives…
 
Lost days, years, striving,
Chasing earthly treasure,
Seeking approval in this life,
Reward from our peers,
From hearts of broken clay…
 
Needing to let go, to release,
No longer seeking approval,
Raising our eyes to heaven,
Seeking approval, praise,
From our loving God above…
