Behind Your Closed Door

In the silence of your room
in time set apart
behind your closed door
that is the place to start
Falling to our knees
lifting our prayers up
emptying ourselves out
that God may fill us
knowing he hears us
and answers our petitions
if we would listen
to his voice speaking to us

Into Our Room

Not in public
raising shouts to the heavens
not in the streets
for show, for recognition
Seeking our Master
the Creator of all
going into our room
there he will hear us
the yearnings of our hearts
even when words do not come
the Savior will do his part
Hearing the musings
our needs lifted up
he will restore us
he will fill our cup

Close the Door

Close the door
bar the world
enter in
to pray to the Lord

Find him there
in the silence
in the stilling of our hearts
feeling his presence

Open up to God
he will listen
still yourselves before him
open to his calling

In silence hearing
what God has to say
committed to him
to walk in his way

In the Place of Prayer

Deep in silence
musings, listening
in the place of prayer
we walk in God’s grace
growing in our faith

Feeling God’s love
his presence within us
a smile within our hearts
going as we are led
eager to do our part

In that place of prayer
that grounding, centering
finding our purpose
our part in his plan

In that growing faith
from our hearts going
believing in our calling
ready to share the word

Whole and Healed

In prayer, alone and together
our bodies restored
our spirits made whole
in time together
in time with God
Bringing us together
making us complete
In peace together
Living as worship
lifting up our neighbors
all over the world
Caring for our brothers,
our sisters in struggle
cleaving to the rock
our strength in the Lord

Sharpened One to Another

The two blades
the seed of our faith
sharpened together
in sharing the word

As one to another
the stone and the blade
the two blades together
gaining an edge

Fired in the mettle
strengthened together
one blade to another
stronger in faith

Prayers for each other
our sisters, brothers
drawing from the one source
our strength in the Lord

Sharpened in the Silence

In the quiet of our spirits
living as worship
church in our hearts
a verb, not just a noun

Our faith growing
sharpened in silence
in the indwelling of the word
imbued within our hearts

Going like Christ did
in time set apart
leaving the world for a moment
to sense God in our heart

Sharpened,
as with a whetstone
to go and do his work

Honed in Silence

In silence growing
sharpening in our witness
in the prayers of the faithful
raising our petitions up
In silence growing
our faith illumined
the whispers of our Father
in the quiet of our souls
Speaking to us
often in that silence
strengthening us for his purpose
his people in the world
