A righteous man,
or so he thought he was
doing the work of the law,
the steps he was told to take
written in the black and white,
the language, in clear terms, unambiguous
but in the sterile words, missing the
main point, all along, the love
the love was missing from
the prayers, from the giving
from his walk
He was acting
as he should
not out of love
and fear,
of God
