when a loved one dies
maybe tangible
maybe something on our hearts
connecting us with them still
our lives stitched with theirs
offering us love still
floating on the air
a piece of them with us still
as we walk in life
growing yet
not ready to let go
walking with us still
everywhere we go

from a pair of dead long-stem red roses
cut before the funeral for Richard Bayley Cobb, Jr.
