Forgiveness is a Journey
Perhaps we can understand
the cries of our Savior
hanging on the cross in pain
crying out to God
asking how the Father
though it was foretold
abandoning him to death
to save our living souls
Forgiveness a journey
for they know not what they do
the hurtful things we say
the things that we do
estranging us from God
and our brother too
needing time to heal
to move beyond our hate
finding love, forgiveness
in the way of the cross

the new leaders
for a new age
The madman flailing
soon to depart

Denied a Place
Far too long
taking to accept the others
voices for freedom
from that crying land
now, more than ever
after months of rebellion
freedom should guide
the actions, the diplomacy
the posture of all the nations
Denied a place
so must be resolute
the madman cast out
into the streets
shunned by his own
those who stood with him
denied a place
at any seat of power
no legitimacy at all
none in the least remaining

Lost all authority
of any legitimacy
a pariah, a schism
dividing his own people
Going to war
against those he should lead
unworthy of a place
with the other nations
a specter, a ghost
stalking the desert
chaos and destruction
his only way
We should stand
with the true martyrs
cutting him off
from the sources of his power

You have become nothing
a cypher, pariah
cut off from the flock
set apart from the people
because of the love, care
for the other sheep, the children
those who now need protection
from the fruits of sin,
evil stalking, on the prowl
Pandora’s Box opened
the evil one within

No other choice, option
no redemption, healing

a shadow on the stage
The world will be better

In authentic witness
faithful to his calling
to be fishers of men
to walk on the water
out of our comfort
to come when he calls,
come, follow me

a consistent witness
ever sharing
God’s gift of his love
The One who came
descending from heaven

the proof of God’s love
life everlasting
redeemed from the gates

aware of the passion
the resurrection
