A bright clear blue day in January
after a cold snowfall overnight
off the road, only glimpsed momentarily
as I drove by,
a Currier and Ives drawing,
a snapshot in my mind
A river, a brook really,
black water and snow covered stones
framed by pines
heavy with light snow
painted on the scene,
acrylic and oil paints
spread with spatula, knife
and fan brush
