pale canary yellow,
bleeds to burgundy and finally cobalt
sudden sunset between
the twin pitons
The warm leeward breath
rising up from the ocean’s surface
wafting up the slope
of the volcanic ridge
Rich lush greens
sweet fragrance on the tropical breeze
Air wet at dusk
falling through the dewpoint
Dark wrapping us like a blanket
looking out on the now placid sea.
Weak light of civilization
hidden behind, beyond the road below.
