Eager arms pulling mine,
transferring the bag with the loot
from one hand to another
depending on which side of her
little ballerina I was on
Urging my steps along the side
the edge of the road,
pulling me to the next house
the next bowl of goodies,
the next special moment
on her quest for candy
the annual pilgrimage
from home to home
for chocolate, for sugar
the excess of it
the wonderful excess
of it all
