Her words were for me
the reason I do this, why I care
go into the ring, fight
Because I can help, stitch the bonds
broken by neglect, by accusation,
by overreach, by excess.
By her words, of thanks,
of acknowledgement, forcing me to hear
I knew I had done the right
Stood beside her,
made a difference, for her,
for them, for all of them
Gave them another chance
to be a family, again
