morning sun, streamed in the window
as I was washing the dishes
smiling on my day at its starting
calming my nerves, the jitters of the day
warming the morning, brightening
shining on my work, on me
the clouds haven’t parted
sky milky white; but the sun is there
staking a claim on the growing day
soon enough, it will hold sway
