Finding Shelter

Mary and Joseph
strangers, journeying
in his ancestral lands
Finding shelter
a humble stable
alone and tired
a feeding trough
their baby’s bed
Under the light
his natal star
angels sang
shepherds came
sent to his throne
bowing, kneeling
beside his make-shift crib
worshipping the Messiah
the babe, born to set us free
born to save us from our sin
