the room became silent

I must admit it, to be honest,

I went through the motions

of the words of the liturgy

of the Passover Seder

we did it each year

the same, repetition

losing the power

of our salvation story

the room became silent

those of us gathered

hearing new words

changed by Jesus

words of ownership

of a radical transformation

the ancient words now personal

my body, my body, the lamb before us

Christ was foreshadowing the day to come
